Bramford Cock Application Decision

A while back CARE Suffolk submitted an objection letter to the planning application for a bungalow to be built in the beer garden of The Bramford Cock pub. The last pub in a rapidly growing village. And for neighbouring parishes too.

This week the decision was announced.

Because the application received so many objections (thank you ❤) it was deemed controversial and therefore decided by the Mid Suffolk Planning Committee, not the Planning Officer.

The Planning Officer recommened granting the application, BUT the Planning Committee went against the recommendation and refused it.

It was refused on the grounds of:

– being detrimental to the viability of the pub, a registered Asset of Community Value
– potential of uneccessary significant constraints of the pub, due to increased potential for noise and disturbance from the pub on the new residents
– unsafe vehicle and pedestrian access on an already substandard site access (not a big enough line of sight leaving the pub).

Had residents not objected in such numbers it would not have gone to Planning Committee, and it looks like it would have been approved.

Thank you to everyone who did submit an objection. ❤
